Bringing Nature Home
A series of modular stackable plant pots that can be used to build a room divider. Inspired by biophilia and biophilic design this project aims to challenge current ideas of modernity by bringing nature back into the home.
A key part of this project was its modularity, meaning that the pieces could be aranged in a multitude of different ways according to however the client wants.
Each piece was made from one master mold. The slipcasted form could then be altered through removing material to get the two different shapes. Slipcasting was chosen as the material and method of choice due to the sustainable nature of clay slip, and the adjustability of the slip casting process.
If this project was to be mass produced multiple molds would be made but for the final model of this project one large five part mold was made out of plaster. The final mold had a 10 inches wide diameter and was 14 inches tall. Ten pieces were slipcasted but only eight of them made it to the final baking phase in the kiln as two of them were lost during the making process.
